MANILA (UPDATE) - Lawyer Larry Gadon, who is running for senator to replace “dumb” lawmakers, on Friday denied that his filing of candidacy was delayed after he brought the wrong form.
Gadon belied talk that it took him about half an hour to file his certificate of candidacy after he filled-up and brought an outdated version of the election document.
“Kinulang lang ako sa picture kasi last year isa lang naman ‘yung ginamit,” Gadon told reporters, referring to his filing experience in 2016 when he ran for senator.
“Natagalan kasi kinulang ng picture. Pinakuha ko pa sa kotse e yung kotse may pinuntahan pa,” he said.
But Comelec spokesperson James Jimenez said Gadon initially filed the “incorrect form.”
“The form that Gadon submitted in the first instance was not the form he should have submitted, but naresolve naman agad, nabigyan naman ng correct form,” he said.
Another Comelec official also belied Gadon’s claims that he lacked some ID pictures.
“Since 2016, 5 pictures na talaga ang required. Same as now. Hindi siya kulang,” the official who refused to be identified said.
Gadon who had been touting that he is smarter than incumbent senators said he did accomplish an old form, but insisted that it was not the cause of delay.
“Hindi ko naman na-submit yung isa so it’s true that I did not submit the wrong form,” he said.
