MANILA- Social Welfare Undersecretary Isko Moreno is seeking to return to the Philippine capital's political scene.
Moreno, Francisco Domagoso in real life, filed on Friday his certificate of candidacy for mayor of Manila City.
He was accompanied by reelectionist Manila City Vice Mayor Honey Lacuna and 3rd District Rep. Yul Servo.
If he wins next year's elections, Moreno said his first order of duty is to fix the waste management in Manila, citing the problem of uncollected trash.
He also revealed plans to develop social services in the Philippine capital and improve tourism by pushing for community enterprises in Escolta, Binondo, Lawton, and Malate-Ermita.
The camp of Manila Mayor Joseph Estrada welcomed Moreno's bid for the city's top leadership post.
"Of course, Isko's running for mayor is most welcome," the former President's camp said in a text message.
Moreno lost his senatorial bid in 2016 after serving three consecutive terms as Manila vice mayor.
Prior to becoming social welfare undersecretary, Moreno was appointed chairman of the North Luzon Railways Corp. in July 2017.
The actor-politician however resigned from the post three months later, citing personal reasons.
