MANILA - The country's largest lotto jackpot, which has breached the billion-peso mark, remains up for grabs on Friday (Oct. 12).
The record-shattering Ultra Lotto 6/58 pot, which stood at P1,026,264,340 (around US$20 million) on Oct. 9, is the highest lotto prize since November 2010 when a lone winner bagged the P741 million Grand Lotto 6/55.
While last Tuesday's draw didn't produce a jackpot winner, 113 bettors guessed 5 out of 6 numbers in the winning combination.
Lottery fever has gripped the country with long queues forming outside lotto stations.
The slim chance of winning, 1 in 40 million for the 6/58, has not stopped bettors from trying to beat the odds.
Ultra Lotto 6/58 draws, which costs P24 per bet, are held on Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays.
Below is a timeline of events chronicling the pot's journey to P1 billion.
