ILIGAN CITY - Around 80 Muslim leaders and administrators of mosques in Iligan City met with Mayor Celso Regencia and authorities Wednesday following reports of ISIS recruitment attempts.
They were also given a lecture on how local terrorist groups recruit and get support from foreigners.
Regencia said he wants to be steps ahead of terrorists to keep the city safe.
He said he doesn’t want to repeat the mistakes made in Marawi.
Police Senior Supt. Leony Roy Ga said terrorist recruiters have been identified.
Authorities asked the religious leaders to be on their guard against indoctrination inside mosques.
An imam told ABS-CBN News that recruiters offer people as much as P30,000 partial payment.
The religious leaders vowed to help city authorities in their campaign against terrorism.
