MANILA - Former Sen. Jinggoy Estrada was a no-show at his graft trial at the Sandiganbayan 5th Division on Monday, where two prosecution witnesses testified.
Estrada did not attend the hearing after his waiver of appearance was approved by the court on October 2.
During the trial, the prosecution presented two witnesses, Commission on Audit Supervising Administrative Officer Lolita Soriano and National Bureau of Investigation Chief of the Special Intelligence Division Rodante Berou.
Soriano testified on the records of the Special Audit team on the Priority Development Assistance Fund of lawmakers including Estrada which are under her custody.
Berou meantime testified on the the documents submitted by pork barrel scam whistleblower Benhur Luy which formed the basis for the P183 million plunder and graft cases against Estrada.
Before his waiver of appearance was approved, Estrada was also allowed by a special division of the anti-graft court to be released after posting P1.33-million bail for his plunder and graft cases.
