MANILA - Two police security personnel assigned to Senator Antonio Trillanes IV have been recalled after President Rodrigo Duterte voided his amnesty.
PNP Director General Oscar Albayalde issued the recall order, according to Chief Supt. Filmore Escobal, director of PNP-Police Security and Protection Group (PSPG).
“Wala nang temporary. Nang lumabas yung kaniyang warrant of arrest, but as early as lumabas yung presidential proclamation rendering his amnesty void ab initio, nagbigay ng instruction si Chief PNP na i-recall,” Escobal told ABS-CBN News
Last July 13, the PNP recalled Sen. Trillanes’ police detail because the provision expired and a personnel audit was conducted by the PSPG.
One week after Trillanes disclosed the recall, his police security detail were reassigned to him.
Escobal said government officials are entitled up to 2 police security escorts but a request has to be made.
“May entitlement siya, pag government official like senator, congressman, entitled siya pero dapat mag-request,” he said.
If and when Senator Trillanes is cleared by the court, Escobal said he can again submit a request for police security detail, which is subject to Albayalde's approval.
“We will again submit that for the approval of the chief PNP. We will just provide. Una, evaluation ng threat mula sa Directorate for Intelligence. And, of course approval ng Chief PNP,” he said.
