MANILA - (UPDATE) Five agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) were killed in an ambush in a town in Lanao del Sur Friday, police said.
The fatalities were identified as Kenneth Tabulo, Kristine Mae Torlao, Lores Joy Amar, and Binzo Dipolla, who were declared dead upon arrival at the hospital, and Diobel Pacinio, who died while undergoing treatment.
Three of the slain agents are fresh graduates from the PDEA academy.
Two others, identified as PDEA agent Rachel Gentapanan and civilian Normina Dicay, were wounded.
The victims were on board a van on their way to Marawi City when there were waylaid by a still unidentified number of suspects.
PDEA said it is looking into the agency's arrested big-time drug suspects in the area as persons of interests for the ambush.
