The body of a missing quarry worker who was swept away by a flash flood in Zamboanga Del Norte was recovered Wednesday morning.
Ruth Pactorayan was found by her family in Barangay Oyan, Dapitan City, some 20 kilometers away from the quarry site where a torrent of water ripped through last Monday.
The flash flood, triggered by heavy rains, claimed the lives of six quarry workers in Barangay Singaran, La Libertad.
Pactorayan's husband Nelson told ABS-CBN News he could have also died that day.
Nelson was supposed to accompany his wife last Monday, but opted to stay when something came up in their house that needs fixing.
Because of what happened, Nelson has decided he will no longer work in the quarry.
Meanwhile, one of the victims, Lilia Ellobido, was laid to rest Wednesday.
Ellobido's daughter Julie told ABS-CBN News she will miss her mother who cooks for them everyday before she and her siblings go to school.
In the wake of the flash flood, the local government unit (LGU) of La Libertad will invite the quarry owner to check if the site has a permit to operate.
