Russian, 2 Chinese arrested at NAIA for bringing cocaine, shabu

MANILA (UPDATED) - A Russian and two Chinese were arrested Wednesday at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) for allegedly attempting to smuggle high-grade cocaine.

The suspects were identified as Chan Ka Wai, Pau Ho Man Evan. and Yury Kirdyushkin.

All three suspects arrived at NAIA on board an Emirates Airline flight from Dubai at around 4:55 p.m.

They all came from Brazil and were monitored by the United States Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). The DEA then informed Philippine authorities about them.

The suspects are currently under investigation.

Authorities estimated the amount of illegal drugs confiscated from the suspects at around 30 kilos.

Recovered from the luggage owned by Kirdyushkin were 7.4 kilograms of powdered cocaine and 2.5 kilograms of liquid cocaine, while the two Chinese nationals allegedly brought with them nine kilograms each of alleged shabu.
