The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) has arrested an Australian fugitive who is facing drug trafficking charges.
The NBI-International Operations Division nabbed Markis Scott Turner on Sept. 15.
He has been hiding in the Philippines since August 2015.
Turner lived in Island Garden, Samal, Davao City under the name Filip Nova.
The Australian government said Turner and Colombian citizens imported 71.6 kilograms of cocaine into the country from 2009 to 2011.
Turner hid the illegal drugs inside drums of hydraulic oil through his company, CQE Materials and Handling, Australian investigators said.
The NBI said there is no indication in their investigation that Turner had sold or smuggled drugs in the Philippines while he was in hiding.
