MANILA - A concoction by the government.
Former Bayan Muna Rep. Satur Ocampo had this to say over alleged scheme to kick President Rodrigo Duterte out of office.
On ANC's "Talkback" that aired Monday, he said the move aims to discredit communist rebels.
"Our group and myself believed it is a concoction by the government, the president, and military and try to discredit the CPP-NPA," he said.
Ocampo added, "The truth is that they are saying it's not surprising because the objective of CPP-NPA is to overthrow the government. That has been already a long-term objective. It's not talking about any particular plot."
He also warned that the country may assume an authoritarian rule should Duterte continue with his attacks against the opposition.
Meanwhile, Magdalo party-list Rep. Gary Alejano alleged that the government is conditioning the minds of the people to convince them there is an ouster plot.
He also denied anew that the Magdalo is involved in such scheme.
"We have sworn to defend and uphold the Constitution and we will abide with the processes in democracy," Alejano said.
