MANILA - The controversial Mocha Uson will accompany President Rodrigo Duterte to his trip to Russia following her appointment as new Deputy Executive Director of the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA).
Uson will be part of the President's delegation in his 5-day trip. She said she would attend talks about the protection of OFWs in Russia.
Duterte is set to leave Manila Tuesday night and is set to arrive in Russia early Wednesday.
Uson, a former sexy dancer, was among celebrities who heavily campaigned for Duterte in 2016.
She was appointed communications assistant secretary in May 2017 but resigned last year after a string of gaffes and controversies, including allegations of spreading fake news and a video that drew uproar from the deaf community that felt mocked by the content.
She ran as first nominee of the AA Kasosyo party-list, which Uson said aims to help Filipinos, particularly overseas workers, become successful entrepreneurs. The party-list group failed to win a seat in the May 2019 polls.
