MANILA - The African swine fever is still spreading in Quezon City, the Department of Agriculture (DA) said Tuesday.

This, after the DA added another barangay, Tatalon, in areas affected by the pig disease. Dead pigs were reportedly found abandoned in a road there, and after further inspection, hogs in the barangay were found infected with ASF.

“I have been given information that, yes, nag-positive 'yung pigs doon (the pigs there tested positive),” Agriculture Secretary William Dar said.

The first two barangays which were affected, Payatas and Bagong Silangan, were the areas where dead hogs were found floating in creeks and infected in backyard pig sties.

Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte had ordered the culling of pigs after the disease broke out in the two barangays.
