MANILA - The House minority bloc might file an ethics complaint against its member, ACTS OFW Party List Rep. Aniceto John Bertiz, following an incident in the Ninoy Aquino International Airport over the weekend, Minority Leader Danilo Suarez said Monday.

Suarez said they may initiate an ethics case against Bertiz unless outside parties file one first within the next couple of days, adding that he has sought for a copy of the now-viral CCTV footage.

“We’re gathering all the narratives of the events but at the same time I have consulted the leaders of the minority because we’re quite 44 na and there may be a possibility we may have this up to the ethics committee," he told reporters.

“We’re waiting baka merong outside party that will trigger a congressional (investigation)” he said, adding that if no outside party files, they will "definitely call for an investigation.”

Suarez said they will wait till Wednesday for an outside party to file the complaint.

Sought for his comment on a document that has gone viral on social media purportedly expelling Bertiz from his party list, Suarez said: “Marami na nga yun nag-a-add up na lumalabas na issue. That’s precisely the reason why we have to call for a deeper investigation on this issue."

"It’s not just the incident at the airport but merong OFW because you know ang laki ng aming pagtingin sa ating mga OFWs, savior ito ng economy natin. We have to protect their interest.”

Suarez however maintained that unseating a congressman must go through the House of Representatives Electoral Tribunal. Speaker Gloria Arroyo added it must also go through the Commission on Elections.

Suarez said he has spoken to Bertiz for his side of the story.

"Tinanong lang daw niya, bakit 'yung isa, hindi. Bakit may police escort siya, hindi siya hindi inalisan ng sapatos at hindi binuksan 'yung bag. Medyo sensitive rin 'yun. Security lapses 'yun," he said.

"That’s why were going to ask for a footage of the CCTV. Give us time, maybe by Wednesday. May presscon naman kami sa inyo we may have a precise answer," he added.
