MANILA - A new tropical cyclone is expected to enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) over the weekend, the ninth this year, the weather bureau said Thursday.
Tropical storm "Chaba," (international name), packing maximum sustained winds of 85 kilometers per hour (kph) and gusts of 105 kph, was located 1,500 kms east of Southern Luzon at 10 a.m., PAGASA said.
Moving west northwest at 20 kph, the storm was forecast to enter the PAR on Saturday morning, it said.
Chaba will be locally named “Igme” once it enters the PAR.
PAGASA, however, said the storm is not yet expected to directly affect any part of the country.
