MANILA—Police arrested the alleged "lookout" of purported top illegal-drugs suspect Guia Gomez Castro in Sampaloc, in this city Saturday.
The suspect was arrested in Barangay 484, where Castro served as a former barangay chairperson. She also allegedly ran Castro's narcotics operations there while she was in office.
The suspect was caught with 4 plastic sachets containing suspected shabu, according to Police Lt. Col. Robert Domingo, chief of the Sampaloc Police Station.
Authorities earlier said Castro had bought and redistributed illegal drugs from "ninja cops," or officers who recycle seized illegal drugs from drug stings. She reportedly invested large sums of money to foster government connections, even giving away cars to officers.
She was first arrested in 2001 for alleged possession of drugs, but the case against her was dismissed, supposedly allowing her to expand her alleged narcotics network.
Castro has flown to Bangkok, immigration officials earlier confirmed. Her relatives and co-workers have denied the allegations against her.
