MAKATI - Senator Antonio Trillanes was arraigned on Tuesday at the Makati Regional Trial Court Branch 142 for a libel case filed against him by former Makati Mayor Junjun Binay.

"We look forward in convicting him. Let this be a lesson to him so that he will no longer use his position in bullying and destroying the reputation of people," Binay's lawyer, Atty. Dan Subido, said in a statement.

For his part, Trillanes said "this libel case won't stop me from bringing down corrupt people like them."

Binay filed the libel complaint against the senator last year following Trillanes' pronouncement that Court of Appeals (CA) Associate Justices Jose Reyes and Francisco Acosta received P25-million each in exchange for a temporary restraining order (TRO) and writ of preliminary injunction on Binay's first suspension order by the Ombudsman over the allegedly anomalous Makati City Hall Building 2.
