1 killed, 24 arrested in Cebu police anti-drug operations

One was killed while 24 others were arrested in separate police operations against illegal drugs in Cebu City and Talisay City.

Police brought Rolando Secretaria to Cebu City Medical Center on Monday after he sustained gunshot wounds but was declared dead on arrival by the doctors.

Authorities were serving an arrest warrant to Secretaria for selling shabu and illegal possession of firearms but the suspect allegedly fired at the operatives.

A few minutes after his death, four of his companions voluntarily surrendered to Ermita barangay officials. The suspects, Michael Secretaria, Gerald Flores, Daryl Abante, and Sandy Villegas, also surrendered their firearms. 

In Talisay City, four drug pushers were arrested in Barangay Cansojong.

The subject of the buy-bust operation was 22-year-old Jason “Isok” Abellana, who was caught selling drugs to a cop who posed as a customer.

Arrested along with Abellana were other drug pushers identified as Joel Sonsona, Fernando Bucao, and Kent Atiño.

In Duljo-Fatima in Cebu City. 16 people were arrested in an operation conducted by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA).

Among those who were arrested was Liliosa Geralao who supposedly owns a drug den and was caught selling shabu to a PDEA agent who posed as a buyer.

A 53-year-old grandfather, identified as Romeo Laresma, was also among those arrested.

Confiscated from the arrested drug pushers were sachets of shabu and drug paraphernalia.
