MANILA - Senator Gringo Honasan will face graft charges before the Sandiganbayan over the alleged misuse of his Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF).
The Ombudsman ordered Honasan's indictment for allegedly endorsing a non-government organization without following the procurement process.
The case stemmed from the P29.1-million worth of PDAF Honasan gave to Focus Development Goals Foundation, Inc. (Focus) in 2012 for small and medium enterprises and livelihood projects of Muslim Filipinos in Metro Manila and Zambales.
However, the Ombudsman found that the check and disbursement vouchers were prepared in favor of Focus before it was found qualified to undertake the project on June 4, 2012. The check was dated May 30, 2012.
Also ordered charged are political affairs and project coordinator chief Michael Benjamin, and National Commission on Muslims Filipinos (NCMF) executives Mehol Sadain, secretary; Fedelina Aldanese, chief accountant; Galay Makalinggan, director III; Sania Busran, chief; Aurora Aragon-Mabang, acting chief; Olga Galido, cashier.
Focus officers Giovanni Manuel Gaerlan and Salvador Gaerlan will also face charges.
