MANILA – A "drug queen" who was in cahoots with corrupt police officers is a barangay chairperson in Manila's Sampaloc district, Metro Manila police chief Police Maj. Gen. Guillermo Eleazar said Tuesday.
Eleazar said the drug queen is also wife of a former barangay chairman and had connections with so-called “ninja cops.”
He revealed this information in a meeting with drug enforcement unit heads in the capital at Camp Bagong Diwa in Taguig City.
He said even before Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency chief Aaron Aquino mentioned the drug queen, Metro Manila cops had been monitoring her movements.
Aquino earlier said the drug queen buys and redistributes narcotics seized in government operations.
Police officers last year were tapped to arrest her in two operations headed by the National Bureau of Investigation and another one by PDEA, said Aquino.
"Unfortunately, because of the meddling of ninja cops, nag-negative lahat ng operations ng NBI at saka kami... May ahas talaga at before kami pumunta sa target area, e wala na," he told radio DZMM.
(All operations by the NBI and us turned out negative. There really is a 'snake' and before we reach the area, the subject has already fled.)
Aquino earlier said several sources have confirmed that unscrupulous anti-narcotics agents either sell seized illegal drugs or use them as planted evidence in bogus operations.
