MANILA - Tropical storm "Megi" is expected to enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on Saturday and will affect areas in Northern Luzon, state weather forecasters said.
Megi is also expected to intensify into a typhoon in the coming days, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).
Luzon will experience fair weather on Saturday and Sunday while Visayas and Mindanao will experience cloudy weather with rains.
Central and northern Luzon are most likely to experience stormy weather on Monday and Tuesday, said PAG-ASA weather forecaster Aldczar Aurelio.
The storm is currently travelling in a west, northwest direction headed towards the Batanes group of islands with a speed of 24 kph. It is expected to leave the PAR on Monday or Tuesday.
But PAG-ASA said that as of press time, it is difficult to predict whether the storm will make landfall.
