MANILA - Manila City Mayor Isko Moreno has ordered an investigation into the collapse on Monday of a portion of a Sogo hotel branch in Malate that was being demolished.

Moreno said the investigation will determine who should be held liable for the incident which left 2 workers dead.

Moreno has ordered the City Engineer's Office to look into the tragedy.

"For the meantime, we don't want to accuse anybody until may makita kaming pagkukulang sa part ng Sogo, or contractor ng demolition. The documents are with the city engineering already and ine-examine na kanina pang umaga," he said in a statement.

The corpses of 2 workers--Melo Ison and Jeremie Fabello--were pulled out from the rubble.

Another construction worker, identified as Edson Ison, was injured and rushed to the hospital for medical treatment.

Moreno also extended his condolences to the family of the victims.
