(UPDATE) At least 15 families living near the main river in Argao town, Cebu, were forced to evacuate on Saturday afternoon after nonstop rains.
Residents of sitios Media and Suba in Poblacion, and barangays Canbanua, Talaytay and Langtad were forced to leave their homes, particularly those living near the dike.
Most of the affected individuals were also victims of flooding during Typhoon Queenie four years ago.
More than 20 families living near Balhaan River in Dalaguete town, Cebu, were also evacuated as the body of water overflowed and inundated their homes with knee-high floods.
According to residents, this is not the first time they experienced flooding. A year ago, the Balhaan also overflowed due to heavy rainfall.
Local officials said they are working on a P30-million flood control project to be implemented next year including the construction of bigger and deeper dikes. --Report from Angie Saniel and Aiza Layague, ABS-CBN News
