MANILA- The Sandiganbayan has allowed former Vice President Jejomar Binay to fly to Italy, under certain conditions.
In the minutes of proceedings held last Sept. 7, 2018, the anti-graft court's 3rd Division granted the motion for permission to travel abroad filed by Binay’s lawyers.
The court emphasized however that his travel shall be in Italy only and and he shall not leave earlier than Sept. 28 and should be back in the Philippines not later than Oct. 13.
Binay is facing multiple counts of graft, malversation, and falsification of public documents, along with other former Makati City officials, for the three phases of construction of the Makati City Hall Parking Building.
The anti-graft court's 5th Division granted a similar travel motion by Binay who is facing graft and falsification of documents cases involving the construction of a building of the Makati Science High School.
The travel bond required by the 3rd Division amounts to P752,000 while the 5th Division ordered the payment of P384,000.
