MANILA- The Internal Affairs Service of the Philippine National Police (PNP-IAS) has set the summary dismissal hearing of 16 policemen linked to the killing Kian Loyd Delos Santos on Tuesday, Sept 19.
PNP-IAS Insp. Gen. Alfegar Triambulo said the police respondents are allowed to submit position papers.
"We resolve the case based on the evidence on the record and position paper the respondents and the prosecutors of IAS," he said.
Delos Santos, whose death sparked public outrage and raised questions on the conduct of police operations, was killed in a controversial anti-drug operation last Aug. 16.
Policemen alleged that the teen was a drug runner for his father and uncle, an accusation that his family has strongly denied.
The incident has drawn public condemnation as evidence, including security footage and witness statements, suggest that the teen was executed.
Three cops from the Caloocan City police have been identified in the slay. They are PO3 Arnel Oares and PO1 Jeremias Pereda and Jerwin Cruz.
According to Triambulo, the IAS is still awaiting presidential clearance in order to subject former Caloocan Chief of Police Sr. Supt. Chito Bersaluna to a summary dismissal hearing.
PNP-IAS will resolve the administrative cases based on the evidence on record and position papers submitted by respondents and IAS prosecutors.
PNP-IAS prosecutors will decide on the administrative case after 15 days and will submit their recommendations to PNP Chief, Director General Ronald Dela Rosa.
