MANILA - Three suspects in the fatal shooting of a village official in Isabela City, Basilan this week were killed in an encounter with police on Wednesday afternoon.

Police claimed Daud Anjawani, his son Jerome and a certain Marcos allegedly opened fire at them after the group was cornered in Barangay Lanote. They were killed in the ensuing firefight.

Police said the three could be behind the killing of Omar Asahad, barangay chair of Mebak village in Sumisip town.

Asahad was going home after attending morning prayers for the Eid’l Adha celebration last Monday when he was shot dead in La Piedad, Isabela City. A companion was injured in the attack.
