MANILA (UPDATE) - Students and workers in Metro Manila rushed out of buildings Friday afternoon as the capital region felt the effect of a 5.5-magnitude earthquake that jolted Burdeos town in Quezon province.

Several government offices, including Malacañang and the Department of Justice, evacuated their employees.

Students also evacuated their school buildings and moved to open spaces because of the quake.

Transit lines LRT-2 and MRT-3 also suspended operations.
