MANILA - Liberal Party (LP) lawmakers flatly denied President Rodrigo Duterte's claims that the "yellows" are seeking to impeach him.
Liberal Party vice-chairman Senator Franklin Drilon denied any party involvement in the supposed plot to oust Duterte which the President himself revealed.
"We have not met on this and we deny that we are part of such plot, if indeed such plot exists. The Liberal Party has nothing to do with it," said Drilon.
"Hindi po sinabi ng Pangulo kung sino yung mga yellow," Drilon added.
LP members in the lower chamber also dismissed the president's allegations, saying LP members who belong to both the majority and the minority have never discussed the issue.
"We can safely say that as far as the Liberal Party members of the House are concerned, both of those who are with the majority and who are with our group, have not even talked about impeachment," Northern Samar Rep. Raul Daza told House reporters.
"We all know that under the constitution, the process of impeachment begins in the House and I'm sure that there has not been any talk of impeachment among the LP members," Daza said.
