MANILA - Six suspected criminals were arrested in a joint military and police operation in Pikit town, North Cotabato early Monday morning.
The operation was conducted by Joint Task Force Central’s 7th Infantry Battalion and North Cotabato Provincial Field Unit of Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG)-12 against suspected criminals in the area.
Government troops served search warrants at Barangay Inug-ug, where the 6 suspects were arrested, the military said in a press statement.
The suspects were tagged in gun-for-hire, vehicle theft, and extortion activities in the town and neighboring areas.
Confiscated from the suspects were two M16 rifles, an M1 Garand rifle, homemade caliber .30 rifle, two M19 pistols, hand grenade, bolo knife, assorted magazines, and assorted ammunition.
“The arrest of this armed lawless group will help in the on-going investigation of increasing number shooting incidents and other form of criminalities in Pikit ,” Joint Task Force Central Commander Maj. Gen. Diosdado Carreon said in a statement.
