MANILA - Former Senator Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. paid tribute to his late father and namesake, former President Ferdinand Marcos, on the late leader's birthday on Sunday.
On Facebook, the younger Marcos posted a photo of himself as a boy with his father's arm clasped around his shoulders.
"To celebrate my father’s birthday (September 11) is to remember the dreams and aspirations he had for his beloved Philippines. Let us continue to work together to bring that vision of progress, dynamism and greatness to our country and our people!" he said in the caption.
"Never ever give up. Never lose hope #ForeverMARCOS," he added.
His post has garnered 36,000 "likes" and has been shared almost 3,000 times, as of this posting.
A planned hero's burial for the Marcos patriarch this September was earlier stopped by the Supreme Court. The high court last Wednesday extended until October 18, 2016 its halt order for the interment.

The younger Marcos, meanwhile, is also facing a legal battle over his defeat in the last vice presidential race. He has filed an election protest against Vice President Leni Robredo, claiming that the May polls were marred by "massive electoral fraud, anomalies and irregularities."
