MANILA - A 5.8-magnitude earthquake struck Davao Oriental, Phivolcs said Tuesday.
The tectonic temblor struck the province at 1:39 p.m. approximately 39 kilometers (km) southeast of Governor Generoso town with a depth of 45 km, and was felt in nearby provinces.
Below are areas where the quake was felt:
•Intensity V - Governor Generoso and Mati, Davao Oriental
•Intensity IV - Tarragona, Davao Oriental; Davao City; Tagum City & Panabo City, Davao Del Norte
•Intensity III - Lebak, Sultan Kudarat; General Santos City; Alabel, Malapatan, Glan & Kiamba, Sarangani; Hinatuan, Surigao Del Sur; Bislig City; Butuan City
•Intensity II - San Francisco, Southern Leyte; Santa Cruz, Davao Del Sur; Koronadal City; Magpet & Makilala, North Cotabato; Polomolok, Tupi & Surallah, South Cotabato; Malungon, Sarangani; Kalilangan, Bukidnon; Kidapawan City; Cagayan De Oro City; Columbio, Sultan Kudarat
Meanwhile, instrumental intensities were also felt in the areas listed below:
•Intensity III - Davao City; General Santos City; Gingoog City; Kiamba & Alabel, Sarangani
•Intensity II - Bislig City; Kidapawan City; Cotabato City
•Intensity I - Tupi, South Cotabato
Aftershocks are expected, although there was no reported damage to structure, Phivolcs said.
