MANILA -- An infant that was found abandoned in Valenzuela City passed away at around 4 a.m. Saturday, after being comatose for more than a week due to lack of oxygen.
Mara Salazar from the Valenzuela Public Information Office confirmed the death of "Baby Jade," and said she was initially confined at the Valenzuela General Hospital before being transferred to the Philippine Children's Medical Center on September 2.
Baby Jade was found on August 25 in a trash bin near Jade Garden Town Homes in Valenzuela City.
She was wrapped in a plastic bag and stashed in a box.
Her mother, a housemaid who was working for townhouse residents, was arrested on September 1, and scheduled for psychiatric counseling.
The authorities filed a case of frustrated infanticide against her earlier this month.
