LA UNION (UPDATED) – In the far-flung area of Sitio Bay-o, Barangay Sasaba, Santol, the La Union Police Provincial Office (LUPPO) recovered a tent with a makeshift wooden molding facility for marijuana.
The operation by LUPPO, done in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency's office in Region 1 (PDEA-RO1), led to the confiscation of marijuana and equipment estimated to be worth P632,000.
LUPPO confiscated 20 marijuana bricks and two plastic bags containing marijuana fruiting tops, a hydraulic jack used to compress marijuana leaves, and one weighing scale.
The hydraulic jack was burned on site.
According to the police, the facility may have been producing marijuana at the site for six months already.
"Posibleng hindi lang sila sa Santol nagsu-supply. Baka pati sa nearby towns hanggang Manila," said Police Superintendent Joseph Fajardo Jr., Company Commander of the La Union Police Provincial Public Safety Company (LUPPSC).
No arrests were made.
Authorities said their next step is to trace the owner of the parcel of land where the facility was constructed.
