MANILA — A 4.8-magnitude earthquake shook parts of Mindanao Sunday night, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
The quake struck at 9:49 p.m. approximately 19 kilometers northeast of Jose Abad Santos town, Davao Occidental with a depth of 38 km.
The temblor was tectonic in origin, Phivolcs said.
Instrumental intensities were felt in the areas listed below:
Intensity IV - General Santos City;Alabel, Sarangani
Intensity III - Kiamba, Sarangani; Tupi, South Cotabato
Intensity II - Kidapawan City
Damage to structure and aftershocks were not expected, Phivolcs said.
