MANILA - Philrem president Salud Bautista on Thursday entered a not guilty plea to her graft case over the allegedly anomalous gun license delivery deal with the Philippine National Police (PNP).

Bautista is accused of graft after Werfast, a company were she was listed as incorporator, entered an allegedly anomalous contract with PNP for the placement of online system for firearms license application and delivery.

Ombudsman investigation showed PNP engaged the services of Werfast in May 2011.

Werfast had been given the sole responsibility to set up an online system for firearms license application and delivery.

The company, however, still took the services of popular courier service firm LBC for the delivery of the license, collecting P190 for deliveries within Metro Manila and P290 for outside of Metro Manila, although other courier service providers only charge P90 for deliveries within the metropolis.

Bautista is also among personalities investigated in the stolen $81-million Bank of Bangladesh fund.
