MANILA - Davao City Vice Mayor Paolo Duterte just laughed off photos of him with a businessman accused of being a drug lord.
While attending an inquiry on the P6.4 shabu shipment from China, Paolo was seen smiling while Senator Antonio Trillanes, his father's staunch critic, presented at the Senate.
During the proceeding, Trillanes showed photos of Duterte with businessman Charlie Tan, who has been linked to the illegal drug trade by self-confessed hitman Arturo Lascañas.
Duterte later on admitted that Tan, a businessman, is a friend and a drinking buddy. Asked if Tan is involved in illegal drugs, as he was accused, Duterte said it would be better to ask the businessman.
"Kaibigan ko po... May business sa Palawan, 'yung mga seafood, meron din siyang babuyan, 'yun ang mga negosyo niya. Minsan naman nag-iinuman kami, kainuman ko po," he said.
The younger Duterte laughed, too, when Trillanes asked for his permission to "decode" his alleged tattoo at the back, which may prove that he is a member of a Chinese triad.
The son of the President refused to heed Trillanes' request to have his tattoo shown or photographed. Earlier in the hearing, he said he will not answer allegations based on hearsay.
