LA UNION - An elementary school teacher was arrested in a police buy-bust operation in Agoo, La Union.
Reginald Laroco, a teacher in San Manuel Elementary School, is known as "Jeffrey Rivera" to his buyers. He was arrested in a buy-bust operation on Monday.
Laroco has been a teacher for six years and a drug pusher for three.
"Matagal na 'yan. Ang paniwala doon sa dinidiliveran, doon sa may beerhouse sa Sta. Fe, si Jeffrey Rivera ang pangalan niya," Police Chief Inspector Elpidio Cruz confirmed.
(It’s been a while. He is known as Jeffrey Rivera to his buyers, especially those near the beerhouse in Sta. Fe.)
Laroco admitted his involvement in the illegal drug trade, adding that his supplier is in Dagupan City.
The Department of Education–La Union Division was disheartened about Laroco's arrest.
Rowena Banzon, the schools division superintendent, said they have been closely monitoring Laroco.
"There were reports to us, pinamonitor ko 'yan actually, a month ago lang, na parang may activities siyang pinapagawa na hindi akma sa lesson," Banzon said.
(There were reports that he was involved in other activities, so I had him monitored.)
Aside from criminal charges, Laroco's case will be elevated to the DepEd Regional Office for proper action.
