President Rodrigo Duterte temporarily bid his signature plaid polo goodbye and donned a suit at the Association of Southeast Asian Nation (ASEAN) Summit in Laos.
Duterte, seen wearing a suit for the first time since he ascended to the presidency, attended the 29th ASEAN retreat at the National Convention Center on Vientiane, Laos.
"Suit up," captioned Malacanang's Facebook page.
Malacanang said Wednesday's agenda included the "Philippines’ stand on the West Philippine Sea as well as crucial regional issues concerning all parties such as disaster management, maritime security, transnational crime, and drug matters."
Duterte has been vocal about choosing comfort over fashion, even on important events. During his inauguration, Duterte wore a Barong Tagalog paired with corduroy pants.
In some events, Duterte pairs his Barong with denims. But in most of his engagements, Duterte usually wears plaid polo with jacket.
