Improvised bomb components seized in North Cotabato

NORTH COTABATO - Materials for creating an improvised explosive device (IED) were recovered in two houses at Barangay Dungguan, M'lang, North Cotabato during a law enforcement operation on Tuesday.

By virtue of a search warrant, a joint law enforcement operation was launched by North Cotabato Police, Special Action Forces and the military at Purok 6, Baranggay Dungguan, M'lang, North Cotabato.

The targets of the operation were identified as Anwar and Guiamadel Sandigan.

Targets were not found during the operation, but IED components, such as blasting caps, detonating cords, batteries, cellphones, grenades, Christmas lights, light diodes, circuit boards and etc., were seized inside the homes.

A man, identified as Jokrie Buisan, was arrested after he was seen inside the house of Anwar Sandigan possessing a hand grenade during plain view search by operatives.

Buisan is now detained at M'lang Police Station.

Investigation is still ongoing according to the police.

Police said they will continue to carry out these operations to flush out all suspected bombers in the province.
