MANILA - Surigao del Norte Rep. Robert "Ace" Barbers on Tuesday urged law enforcers to execute the culprits behind the deadly Friday night bombing of Davao City instead of bringing them to justice.

"Crush them! They do not value life, they do not want peace, they do not follow law and order, and worst of all they are murderers," Barbers said in a statement.

"They deserve nothing but death. That is the only kind of justice they deserve."

Abu Sayyaf bandits have claimed responsibility for the attack that claimed 14 lives and left 67 others injured. Investigators, however, are not ruling out the possibility that drug lords and other threat groups are responsible for the powerful explosion.

Barbers acknowledged a police theory that drug lords and terrorists worked together to carry out the Davao attack. "This is the reason why we need to step up our fight against criminality," he said.

"I support the decision of President Duterte to put the entire country under a state of lawlessness if only to crush these criminals with urgency," the lawmaker added.

Police are pursuing three persons of interest linked by witnesses to the explosion: a man who allegedly left the bomb-containing bag in the city's Roxas Night Market, and his two female companions.

Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio has offered P2 million for the immediate capture of the suspects, stressing that she wants the delivered alive to the police for questioning.
