MANILA - The Department of Justice (DOJ) has designated several of its personnel to coordinate with other government agencies in the ongoing investigation into the deadly Davao City blast last Friday.

Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre II designated Regional Prosecutor for Region 11, Janet Grace D. Fabredo; City Prosecutor Nestor N. Ledesma of Davao City; and National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) Southeastern Mindanao Office chief, Atty. Arnold Rosales "to coordinate with each other and with personnel from other law enforcement agencies with regard to the investigation on the September 2, 2016 explosion in Davao City."

The team was directed to submit periodic reports to Justice Undersecretary Antonio Kho, Jr.

The DOJ earlier condemned the blast, labeled as a terrorist act by Davao City Mayor and presidential daughter Sara Duterte-Carpio, and vowed to bring the perpetrators to justice.

Fourteen people died in the blast while over 60 others were left injured.

"We are one with the President in this fight against terrorism and lawlessness... We have a common enemy, it will be defeated by our collective action," Aguirre said in a statement issued over the weekend.

Aguirre also started a fundraising drive for the victims using his personal funds, and urged the DOJ family to also contribute.
