DAVAO CITY - Fishermen prepared their boats and equipment on Thursday as the regional offices of Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources and Department of Agriculture ended the closed season in Davao Gulf.
The BFAR and DA are hoping fishermen can now catch more fish products in Davao gulf.
Fishing ban in Davao gulf was implemented from June to August 2017 to allow pelagic fishes to spawn in the ocean.
During the closed season, fishermen and companies were prohibited from catching fish 15 kilometers from the shoreline of municipal waters, especially when used with bag net and ring net.
Since 2014, 4 fishermen from Davao Oriental have been arrested for violating the Joint Administrative number 2.
