Authorities searched the compound of suspended lawyer and perennial nuisance candidate Elly Pamatong in Barangay Tablon, Cagayan de Oro City Thursday morning, saying his group owned illegal firearms.
The Martial Law Special Action Group, composed of the Philippine National Police, Armed Forces of the Philippines, and National Bureau of Investigation, searched 42 houses inside the compound.
Chief Inspector Melgar Devaras said they enforced a search warrant against Pamatong's group, alleging that they owned several illegal weapons.
"Marami pong mga reports na dumating sa office kaya nag-conduct na tayo ng surveillance," Devaras said.
But authorities did not find Pamatong and the house owners during their search.
One caliber .45 pistol with two bullets and two fragmentation grenades were found in one of Pamatong's houses.
They also confiscated several uniforms, identification cards and badges that resembled that of state troops'.
Authorities believe Pamatong might have known about their operation and already fled with some of his men before the raid.
Pamatong, who earlier declared that he had assumed the presidency, will face charges of illegal possession of firearms, explosives, and illegal use of uniforms or insignia.
