MANILA - Philippine Drug Enforcement Administration (PDEA) Director General Isidro Lapeña said the Odicta couple, allegedly drug lords of Iloilo, approached his agency before they were killed over the weekend.
Lapeña was interviewed by reporters at the sidelines of his agency's briefing before the House Committee on Dangerous Drugs.
"Lumapit din siya sa PDEA. Lumapit du'n is yung misis. So, she submitted herself for 'yung interview interrogation but 'yun ang sabi ng ating investigators, 'yung nag-interrogate sa kaniya, is they are no longer involved in illegal drugs."
(The wife approached the agency. She submitted herself to interrogation with an investigator. According to the investigator, Odicta denied they were involved in illegal drugs.)
However, Lapeña said the interrogation left them disappointed.
"That's not what we expected her to do because if you surrender, I was expecting an admission from their part. Then maybe, she can name names. Sino sinusupply? Saan nanggaling supply ng drugs? (Who do they supply to? Where do their supplies come from?)"
Meanwhile, Lapeña said he asked lawmakers for more intelligence funds.
"Ang aming hiningi kanina is on the intelligence fund para sa operations kasi immediate eh (We asked for more intelligence fund since it's an immediate concern)," Lapeña said.
