MANILA - A brewing storm or low pressure area spotted off the Batanes islands on the country's northern tip will dump rains over parts of Luzon, state weather bureau PAGASA said Wednesday.
At 4 a.m., the weather system was located at 120 kilometers east southeast of Basco, Batanes. It will enhance the southwest monsoon or "habagat," bringing rains to the western sections of Northern and Central Luzon, PAGASA said.
Benguet, Cagayan, Zambales, Bataan, Batanes, Calayan and Babuyan provinces will experience cloudy skies with light to moderate rains and thunderstorms, the weather bureau said.
Metro Manila and the rest of the country will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated thunderstorms, it said.
The weather bureau warned small fishing vessels that waters off Luzon would be moderate to rough.
