MANILA - The investigation on the death of 17-year-old drug suspect Kian Delos Santos will be "speedy and truthful," Malacanang said Tuesday, after President Rodrigo Duterte met with his parents.
The Department of Justice and the National Bureau of Investigation will look into Delos Santos' case with "impartiality, integrity and dispatch," Presidential Spokesman Ernesto Abella told reporters.
"We expect speedy and truthful investigations on the killing of Kian Delos Santos as pledged by the president to his parents and the nation," Abella said.
Duterte on Monday met with Delos Santos' parents, Saldy and Lorenza, 2 days after their son was buried.
The 12th grader's death sparked protests over Duterte's war on drugs. Delos Santos' family insists he is not a drug courier as alleged by police.
