CEBU - Daanbantayan Mayor Vicente Loot is willing to work with controversial cop, Chief Inspector Jovie Espenido if ever the police official will be assigned in the northern town of Cebu.

Loot said he has high respect for Espenido and that he believes the policeman can help him clear his name.

"I can trust my life to him," said Loot.

Espenido has been assigned by President Duterte in Iloilo where several mayors were also included in the drug list.

The police official has been assigned in Albuera, Leyte and Ozamiz City. The mayors of both places were killed while the police were serving warrants.

President Rodrigo Duterte earlier linked Loot to the illegal drug trade. The mayor's name was even included in the President's "narco list."

Last week, Loot went to the Philippine National Police and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) headquarters to submit himself to investigation.

The Cebu mayor said he will also waive his right and release any private document which can be used in the probe.
