MANILA — The police officials in charge of the cops tagged in the death of Grade 11 student Kian Delos Santos can be held liable by virtue of command responsibility, an official of the National Police Commission (Napolcom) said on Sunday.
Napolcom vice chairman and executive officer Atty. Rogelio Casurao told radio DZMM that they have already begun investigating the incident and expect to wrap up the probe within 60 days.
"Hindi ho malayo na kahit yung mga namumuno dyan sa Northen Police District ay masangkot din sa ganung proseso under the principle of command responsibility," Casurao said.
Police Officer 3 Arnel Oares and Police Officers 1 Jeremias Pereda and Jerwin Cruz are currently under investigation for the police operation that led to the death of Delos Santos.
PNP chief Director General Ronald "Bato" dela Rosa has also relieved Northern Police District Director Senior Supt. Roberto Fajardo and Caloocan police chief Senior Supt. Chito Bersaluna.
Casurao said the policemen tagged in the killing may be dismissed from service, aside from the criminal charges that may be filed against them.
