MANILA - A passenger for Boracay Island was arrested at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3 on Saturday morning for possession of a firearm and live ammunition.

The arrested passenger was identified as Silvestre Mendoza Roque, 52, of Marikina, who placed his firearm and ammunition inside his sling bag upon entering Terminal 3.

Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) general manager Ed Monreal said they were able to confiscate Roque's Llama Minimax Caliber .45 and 16 live ammunition.

When he was approached by the authorities, Roque admitted that he owns the caliber .45 but he presented an expired license. He also failed to produce any permit to carry firearms in public.

Roque faces illegal possession of firearms and ammunition charges. --
