MANILA - Four areas in northern Philippines remain under tropical cyclone warning signal no. 1 as "Jolina" is expected to leave the Philippine area of responsibility Saturday night, state weather bureau PAGASA said.
"Yung sentro ng bagyong Jolina ay nasa West Philippine Sea at kaninang alas-5 ng umaga ay nag-exit ng landmass between Ilocos Norte and Ilocos Sur," said weather forecaster Aldczar Aurelio in a briefing.
In its 11 a.m. weather advisory, PAGASA said the center of "Jolina" was estimated at 120 kilometers west of Sinait, Ilocos Sur as of 10 a.m.
"Jolina" has accelerated and re-intensified, packing maximum sustained winds of 80 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 95 kph. It is forecast to move west northwest at 24 kph.
PAGASA said moderate to heavy rainfall is still expected within the 300 kilometer diameter of the storm.
Tropical cyclone warning signal no. 1 remains hoisted over the following areas, where winds of 30 to 60 kph may be expected in the next 36 hours:
- Ilocos Sur
- Ilocos Norte
Tropical cyclone warning signals elsewhere have been lifted.
Sa Metro Manila, inaasahan natin light to moderate rains dahil sa habagat," he said.
"Jolina" made landfall over Casiguran, Aurora Friday evening, with cyclone warning signals hoisted over 10 areas.
Aurelio said to expect good weather conditions on Sunday and Monday.
But, he said, isolated thunderstorms may be expected in the afternoon and evening.
